The animated Astro Boy movie from Imagi should now be available for purchase in North America at most major retailers and online stores today. If you liked the movie as I did, then make sure you go buy it! There is no better way to show your support for the home video release for a movie than to purchase it during the first week of release.
You can help AstroBoy World by purchasing your copy on DVD or Blu Ray through the AstroBoy World Store. If you insist on visiting your local brick-and-mortar, there are some instant savings coupons available on Red Plum.
There are lots of big DVD and Blu Ray releases this week, but let's make sure Astro gets his due and isn't lost in the shuffle. Check back right here on ABW in the near future for a chance to leave your thoughts on the home video release.
Got it ordered along with Evangelion 1.11, Ponyo and The Princess and the Frog. Will probably receive next week.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I already got to watch all of the extras a few days ago. Way too short if you ask me.
I gotta wait months until it comes out on dvd over here but I'm really tempted to buy an import from America so i can watch it sooner. Ha, i'd buy it twice! XD
ReplyDeleteIs there any chance of the movie coming out in 3D? I swore I saw a video on youtube about it, and I thought it would've been sweet since the movie would work good as one =3
I just got the Astroboy DVD at Bestbuy last night! It's awesome! I really enjoyed Astro vs. the Junkyard Pirates as well. It was just too short, but the action was great! The DVD was well worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered the DVD on Amazon and was beyond impatient to get it (seriously, ask my roommates)! I will admit the special features are pretty skimpy, especially considering the long history of Astro Boy himself. I would have liked to see a director's commentary, or any other commentary for that matter. Regardless, what is included is great! The production artwork is amazing, especially the color keys!
ReplyDeleteYou might be interested to know that the two "all-new animated sequences" are actually modified deleted scenes! If anyone has seen the movie novel and manga adaptations, you'll know what I'm talking about. All in all, a satisfying release that I will treasure forever!
